Tech – workshops for our village kids

Every year, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University based in Hong Kong supports our Education ‘s programs. The University engages their students to design interesting and locally customized workshops for young adults in the city.

Due to the Covid-19, a physical class can’t take place. Thus, the training and workshops have to conduct in virtual platforms. Thanks to the leadership team of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University for its commitment to support our community service programs.

Kids were groups into different teams. They received different projects to work on.
Davan on his yellow T-shirt , a very young boy, performed very well. He is very smart and clever. He could respond well to the trainers joining virtually from Hong Kong University. We are so proud of him. We can see his high IQs. We believe that by providing opportunities and resources they need, the kids here will be well-prepared for their great future.

Underprivileged kids can begin to develop their passions and dreams once they are exposed to what they really enjoy.

They got excited to learn some computer codes behind animation. Though, the lesson was quite a challenge to catch, they still enjoyed the instructions, and guidance from the trainers in Hong Kong.

We also experienced some disconnection due to the poor Internet signal at the farm.

We brought over some young translators from the city to help communicate the language for the students. Our translators had to prepare some technical vocabulary so they could translate the contents to the young students. We observed that not only the village kids learning but the young Khmer translators also learning this online workshops provided from the University.

We are hoping that once Covid-19 subsides , borders open, we will have physical workshops with Hong Kong University students. We also wanted to keep in touch and asked that our youth continue their friendship. It’s good that your village kids be encouraged and motivated to stay in school. When lacking that, kids easily drop out their study, and go to help their parents at the farming fields. They can give up their educational journey and easily fall into poverty.

Therefore, we wanted to do our best to help them learn, enjoy , and offer opportunity for them to grow themselves since they are young.

We were also able to feed 30 people including our helpers. The kids were blessed the free computer lessons, and the food at Living Water farm center.

The lunch fellowship allowed our teacher team to get to know the students more. We led prayers of thanks for the meals we have and the opportunity to learn. When the students wondered why we have to pray , and say thank you to Jesus, then we got the opportunity to explain and share the gospel of Jesus with them.
