STEM KIT WORKSHOP BY POLYU TEAM

STEM KIT WORKSHOP BY POLYU TEAM

Hong Kong PolyU team conducted STEM teaching via online to our village children.  STEM stands for “science, technology, engineering and mathematics”.

The team taught the kids how to build robot cars and learn about gears. They also built a robot arm driven by simple hydraulics. Our kids and local volunteers have learned a lot about STEM education, and they were really enjoyed the lessons. Especially, they love playing with those STEM toys around. The kids also learned about the preservation of horseshoe craps, the sea animals that are used by medical scientists to identify if newly researched medicines are safe for human beings.

We also asked local volunteers to help with translations. Kids were broken down into small teams. They practiced building their projects manually.

Thanks to the PolyU team and the leadership of authorization who permitted this opportunity. We also thank our translation team and the clear explanation of the trainers from Hong Kong. Our children really enjoyed the workshop online very much.

They told us that they had not experienced communicated with people face-to face online before.  Kids appreciated that this is their first time to be able to study with foreign trainers via Internet.

We notice kids in the village give up their study because of poverty, lack of resources, and opportunities. By lacking resources, I meant that some wealthy kids in the village have no access to quality of education. Some kids even fall into drugs.

Our team have been working with other partners to bring over training, workshops, or any opportunities to help them choose the right path for their future.
