Cattle & Goat Project

Cows , goats, and sheep are still in the need in the local market. It is a great investment for our farm to begin to expand our project into this.

For the last few years, the market of cows here has dropped. Some cow rangers here gave up. Therefore, we are now looking at raising sheep and goats.

Our 4 hectars of farmland should be able to house at least 100 sheep. Yet, we wanted to start something small. An average female sheep cost about 250-300 USD ( weighing up to 40 kg). A farm owner informed that the period of raising a sheep for meat can be taken from 6-8 months before it can be sold out which is greater than raising a cow , not to mention the decreasing demand in the market.

At the market, a kilo of lamb is about 10-15 USD depending on the high demand. We are still learning more about raising sheep and how to be successful in the cattle business.

As we find a way to invest and generate good income from the sheep, we will be open to sharing the breeds with our village community. We can follow a “hand-me-to others”, a farmer receive one and committed to increasing what given and then they can hand the first breed to the others. We wanted to keep this model going.

To start this, we need to build a small cage to house them. Right now, we hope to raise about 10 ( 7 females and 3 males – medium size) or 5 ( 4 female and 1 male – small size).
