From Farms to Universities

Living Organization is in the process of  establishing education programs and providing opportunities for children and youth from the impoverished rural areas and underprivileged backgrounds. Most schools are under resourced. Due to poverty in rural community, education is not valued.

This year, some farm youth successfully graduated from their high school. Though few can afford to further their education in the city, there are a few other successful graduates who can't afford to get their university degrees in the capital city. These young men and women are likely to give up their 12 years of education and return to attend their buffalos and cows. Some might decide to get married young or risk their life to enter some neighboring countries with better economy and be migrant workers.

With university degree, they can have more opportunity to get jobs with good salary so that they can support themselves and send back to also support their family members in their village. Some students become entrepreneurs and return to build their local economy. We believe that investing them in high education, these men and women gain better access to prosperity.

  • Average university fee per year = 500 - 600 USD
  • School materials 1/2 year = 50 USD
  • Food monthly basic = 120 USD
  • Accommodation 25 sq room = 40 USD per month

I desire to study in civil engineering. I want to serve my rural community with the skills I will have gained from university.

Mr. Sum Thearith High School Graduate

Just like Mr. Sum Thearith, there are other young graduates from high schools who long for higher education and make a big difference in their own community. They lack resources for their success.
